I am thinking of going back to school for ESL K-12 certification at Rider University, NJ and apparently this is a new test for teacher prep programs. Did anyone take this test?


Right now, I am an aide in a 3rd grade class. Is there material from high school on this test?

Hey everyone,

I just took the CBEST and received my unofficial scores for the reading and math portions.

Reading: 73
Math: 68

I'm just really worried about the writing section. I know at this point I only need a 37 in the writing section to pass, but how many raw points does that equate to? Like 10?

My name is Ivan and I'm currently pursuing my MA in Special Education with m/s teaching credential.
I've passed all of my CSET exams and CBEST math/reading portions, yet I have been struggling to pass my writing section. matter of fact, I've taken the test 6 times, yet, keep getting the same score.

I recently passed the CBEST, and I got my results via e-mail. I'm planning to apply to become a substitute teacher soon, and I'm not sure if I can just print out the PDF they sent me to include with the application, or will they send me physical results too?

I'm sorry if this is normally obvious. I tend to over think things when I'm nervous. Any help would be very appreciated.

I'm so excited:D. I did the GKT couple days ago and passed. The English Language section was fairly easy, Math was ok (I sucked at Math), I was surprised that I passed it. I think I was over prepared for the Math. The Reading section was a disaster!!! The passages were long and hard to comprehend, you get 40 mins to complete this section, there are 40 questions, therefore, 1 min each. I used to work with students in an after-school program setting for 4 years after I graduated from college. Then I entered the corporate world and felt/knew that it was a big mistake. I took exams GACE 081-082 on 4/1 and passed based on my unofficial score. My score for
GACE 081 was (242), and for GACE 082 (232). I've study for one month and I must say, everything I studied was not on the exam, except some of the IDEA/IEP references. I have utilized (quiz let) as my study guide. Hi, I just took the CBEST Saturday December 6, 2008. I was wondering does anyone know how is the CBEST scored on the writing portion. I took the CBEST and failed. I take it again tomorrow. I have been studying online and taking practice tests and bought study books and even took a review class.
My issue is that I don't understand the basics! It's been 20 years since middle school and I haven't needed to use math in my during all this time!

Hello.

I took the CBEST twice.

1st scores were Math 29, Reading 38, and Writing 41.

Since I know your actual scores mean nothing (just as long as you pass) ,I decided to just take the Math and Reading again.
The second time, I received Math 39 and Reading 36.

My question is...

You need a 41 on each section tonpass the exam OR you can get a 37 in at least one section granted that your total score is 123.

hi all.. I am from Indonesia and I have read most of the post regarding people experience with Cbest writing exam. I just started with my study using "cliffsnote Cbest 7th edition" and finished one essay. It took me 1 h and 4 minutes to finish this essay with 475 words. I was wondering how the non-computer (paper) exam is run. Do they allow you to have scratch paper and pencil. Not many take the exam that way and I have a tendency to scribble ideas down while I'm working. How does it work in the paper exam? Can anyone give me a hint?

I used to work in an after school program and generally enjoy working with kids. I am looking to find teaching opportunities in LA area especially for Math (I was a Physics Major in college) and it seems the logical first step is to take the CBEST. Please what material(s) can I find online to prepare for the CBEST? Also what kind of opportunities will I get on passing the CBEST?

Hi everyone,

Not sure if anyone had ever experienced this. But what if you stumble upon a prompt which you don't understand, or it contains a word you dont know? For instance, during my last CBEST test, I got a prompt that asked about criminal prosecution. I did not know what prosecution means. So i kind of just winged it and I failed.

Does anyone have any creative solution?
