Hi guys! I failed the writing part of the CBEST. And I am wondering if I only retake one part of the test, do I have 80 minutes or 240 mins to finish my writings? I am a super slow writer and I am thinking about retaking both math and writing parts so that I can quickly finish the math then have more time on writing. Do I have to do that? Thanks

Difficulties Passing the VCLA
Has anyone had trouble passing the VCLA? I took the writing subtest and got an unofficial score of 82% on the multiple choice section. On the summaries, I did not do very well. I have taken the writing subtest three times. The first time I took the writing subtest, I failed the multiple choice, but did really well on the writing. Does anyone have any advice? I have taken the RVE, Praxis I, and Social Studies Praxis and passed all of those tests.

I have taken the CBEST 6 times and have not passed. my scaled score for reading: 41 writing: 41 and math: 37. I understand that 37 is ok as long as your scores are higher totalling 123. I'm not completely clear on how the scaled scores work not sure how to study for the reading and writing since I thought I did very well. Apparently I did not. GKT 2015
I have taken my subject area test twice and passed (got a job). Now I need to take the GKT. From What I have heard the GKT was revised and some will say that it is hard. Can someone tell me how is it like also what materials did you uses to study for the exam since it is "new". I seen some people have used the cliff notes and passed it on their first try for the old exam. I was wondering is it useful to buy that same study guide for the newer version of the GKT?

Hi! I'm a newbie to this forum and was wondering if anyone here has recently sat the computerised CBEST test and could please share their experiences?
I am due to sit the combined reading, writing and mathmatic test on a computer at me local test center and have the following questions:
!) I know that calculators are not allowed in the test, but am I allowed scratch paper? I definately need to jot down working for the math portion, and I also need to scribble down my essay skeleton plan....

CBEST Exam: One Section at a Time?
Hi Guys, I am new to this forum and have some questions about the CBEST. I took the exam earlier this month and I failed all three sections (Embarrassing I know). I really find myself running out of time at the end and was rushing through all of the questions. (I only spent 20 mins total on the essay questions and I received a 30). My wife has been a substitute teacher for a few years and wants to take the Praxis. She is dyslexic and especially has trouble with math. She has 2 book she is studying from. She is barely passing the practice tests and is worrying about the tests she is taking on Aug. 1. Does anyone have suggestions on how or what to study for the test?

I'm looking for someone who recently passed the FTCE General Knowledge math test in FL. I have just failed it for the second time and have no clue as to why. I'm new to the site. I took the VCLA this Friday and earned a 71% on the Reading subtest and a 91% on the Writing subtest. Unfortunately, I ran out of time and was unable to complete either of the essays (summary or argument.)
Are these passing scores? Will I be able to pass the Writing subtest without the essays?

Please help. I'm going to contest my FTCE GK essay fail.
Hi fellow teachers. I hope you're having a better Sunday than I'm having. I just received my FTCE GK results: passed all sections except essay, which I failed by one point (7/12). I intend on going through the verification process to contend this score ($75 and a two hour drive to location. What a scam!). Would someone with experience PLEASE give me some advice on what to write during the verification process? My job is at stake and I'm worried sick about this situation.

CBEST and GRE Scores?
On the CTC website (http://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/leaflets/cl667.pdf), it says that the CBEST can be replaced by SAT or ACT scores. Does anyone know if it can be replaced by GRE scores? (I emailed the CTC to ask but haven't heard back.)
